Thailand — Bangkok, Chiang Mai & Phuket

◷ 8 days / 7 nights ⌖ Thailand ★★★★★ Highly rated

Thailand delivers a depth of experience that keeps visitors returning again and again. The country contains thousands of Buddhist temples, a cuisine that has conquered the world, extraordinary natural scenery and one of Asia’s most vibrant capital cities. This eight-day tour links three regions that together tell the country’s story.

Days One & Two: Bangkok

Arrival at Suvarnabhumi and transfer to a hotel in the centre of the city. The Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew — the Temple of the Emerald Buddha — are the mandatory first morning. The afternoon explores Wat Pho, home to the 46-metre-long Reclining Buddha, and the riverside neighbourhood of Thonburi by longtail boat. Day two takes in the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, one of Thailand’s most photographed scenes, and the Jim Thompson House.

Days Three & Four: Chiang Mai

A one-hour flight north to the ancient capital of the Lanna Kingdom. Chiang Mai is ringed by mountains and contains over three hundred temples within and around the old city. A morning at an ethical elephant sanctuary — observing, feeding and bathing elephants with no riding — is the tour highlight for many guests. Doi Inthanon National Park, Thailand’s highest point, rounds out day four.

Days Five, Six, Seven & Eight: Phuket and Phi Phi Islands

Flight south to Phuket. A full-day speedboat tour to the Phi Phi Islands, Maya Bay and the James Bond Island karst formations fills day six. Days seven and eight are unscheduled beach time at Kata or Kamala Beach, with optional diving, snorkelling or a Thai cooking class available as add-ons.
