The red dunes of Lahbab, an hour southeast of Dubai, rise to heights of more than a hundred metres and glow a deep rust colour in the late afternoon light. This overnight expedition is the most immersive way to experience the desert.
Afternoon Departure and Dune Drive
Pickup is at your hotel in the mid-afternoon. Your driver heads south into the open gravel plains before the dune belt begins. At the dune edge, tyre pressures are lowered and the dune bashing starts. As the sun begins to drop you stop at a high dune crest for photographs and sandboarding before continuing to the camp.
Desert Camp Evening and Morning
The camp is a permanent luxury setup with furnished tents, Arabic seating areas, a central bonfire and a large dining space. The evening includes a camel trek at sunset, falconry display, Emirati dinner and stargazing with a telescope. Breakfast is served as the dunes catch the first light, with return to Dubai before midday.

Good to Know
Comfortable walking shoes and modest clothing are recommended for mosque and heritage site visits. Most attractions require guests to cover shoulders and knees. Sunscreen and sunglasses are advisable year-round. Your guide will brief you on local customs before each stop.
